Join the Latched and Land Embodiment on Tongva Lands

Warm greetings Chichihualtia community,

We're excited to announce that our grassroots Indigenous perinatal health  organization Chichihualtia (breastfeeding in Nahuatl) based in Tongva Lands Los Angeles County, is currently in the works of organizing our first community gathering and celebration in honor of Indigenous Milk Medicine Week (IMMW) to advance chest/breastfeeding as a traditional parenting way, first ancestral medicine and food, disrupter of early adverse childhood experiences, and facilitator of lineage-healing and family wellness.

Our IMMW event, Ancestrally Latched on Native Land will take place in Los Angeles California, Tonga Lands on AUGUST 6 2023.

SAVE THE DATE, SHOW UP AND/OR PLEASE AMPLIFY!

What's the 'Ancestrally Latched on Native Land' theme about?

We are returning to our ancestral food and life ways to generate healing in ourselves, lactation experiences, the land, and our lineages.

We are improving generational and planetary health outcomes while healing historical harms beginning with how we birth, parent and feed the next generations of elders.

What is Indigenous Milk Medicine Week (IMMW)?

IMMW was created by a collective a Native American

women, two-spirit, and femme lactation providers and supporters to increase support and resources for Native first food experiences, promote healing and wellness, and push for access, opportunity, visibility, and equity in Indigenous Milk experiences.

SAVE THE DATE. IMMW is coming to Tongva Lands Los Angeles County August 6th 2023.

Please Amplify! See fliers below.

It's with abundant hearts and grassroots efforts that we invite all Native and Indigenous self-identifying and reconnecting pregnant and lactating peoples and their families to be nourished and celebrated during Indigenous Milk Medicine Week 2023 on Tongva Ancestral Lands.

Indigenous identifying community members, birthworkers, midwives, and perinatal health educators are encouraged to attend. Allies are welcome.

There will be poetry, a panel discussion with storytelling, workshops, nourishment, raffles, prizes and more!

We are also offering a virtual workshop on the Mindful Milk Expression technique and method that incorporates mindfulness and ritual during milk expression routines as an IMMW fundraiser. This is a $20 minimum donation. If you're interested in having us bring this workshop to your audience to help us raise funds for our IMMW event anytime throughout the year, please let us know! Email us for more information if you are interested. See flier for more information. You can check out our IG Live about this workshop here.

Feel free to share on social media and tag us @Chichihualtia, hashtag #IndigenousMilkMedicineWeek and like, share and bump our posts! You may share in email, newsletters, or other platforms.

We'd also love to see you there!

Please share widely, especially among Indigenous and Native American communities.

This event is multi-generational and open to all regardless of lactation/breastfeeding experiences. There will be Native activities, raffles, prizes and cultural workshops for the entire family. Lactogenic traditional nourishment will be provided; all pregnant and lactating individuals, infants, children and elders eat first. See attached document for full event details.
